GROWING RISE IN TECHNICAL JOBS

Jobs are looking good in the technical field. Career expert Dr. Laurence Shatkin, Ph.D, told CBS in his interview yesterday that careers in technology are rated second among the fastest growing careers in America.  In the next 8 years, there will be a 30 percent growth, according to the U.S. Dept of Labor, in Computer Networking, Systems and Database Administration.

For the most part, these jobs require a bachelor's degree, but an associate's degree with professional certification and related work experience may be adequate for some positions.  The workers may start in the field as computer support specialists, then advance into network or systems administration.

There are around 46,000 jobs expected annually, with the median earnings between $67k to $72k.

  3. Hi Tanya, thanks for the presentation. Great sense of humor; very helpful information. I'm just starting with sites - managing them for others mostly. but also a couple of my own blogs.

  8. The Ca EDD site has updates on this. we're on an extension and received out check this week. In any case, Ca EDD says to continue turning in your slips and when passed retroactive checks will be sent (if you're not receiving your checks).
